A recent trend has been the use of 2- hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin as a nanocarrier, a strategy aimed at designing multifunctional drug delivery systems that can encapsulate drugs with better physicochemical properties for oral delivery. 2- hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin is an hydroxylated derivative of betacyclodextrin (β-CD). 2- hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin is non-toxic and has no side effects.
